Garlic Scape Pesto

I bought my first garlic scapes--the stalks and unopened flowers of garlic--at the farmers market. The farmer told me I could put them in water and they would bloom.But I'm going to make pesto.

Garlic Scape Pesto

Put your soccer cleats on, and jump up and down on:

1 bunch (6-10) garlic scapes, finely chopped
1/3 cup finely grated Parmesan
1/3 cup nuts (pine nuts, walnuts)
1/3 cup olive oil

Kirkian face / Garlic monocle!

A freak impulse leads me to digress:

Pesto is a v. satisfying word;
I wish it was my name.
In the 90's, the local kiddie soccer league named all the teams after cheeses;
we were Parma.

para-verse: last night, had pesto pasta (oh, that one is really satisfying to say!)

. . . Happy free-association day!

*not actually free-association day.

The internets tell me it is
"Stay Out Of The Sun Day and Compliment Your Mirror Day"

I know just what to say:
LAME MIRROR.

I love pesto. Would be interesting to see how they bloom though.

One expects them to accompany goat cheese...

3, 2, 1, Eat!

I've been back on the sliced oranges w/olive oil & pepper lately.

And yellow cherries. Yum.
