Three Wheels

I took advantage of a string of rare 70-degree days earlier this week and took the girlettes out in the October sun.
This is Mir, Kia Sorrento, and SweePo.

Running on E

The workplace meeting I'd feared on Tuesday turned out to be benign, but just a little odd...
Big Boss had printed out Pope John XXIII's "Only for Today" list of ten spiritual behavior goals that I'd emailed him.
He spent the meeting talking about each one. He tied them to our work at the store:
"People come in here needy, desperate. And outside, it's worse. You are giving, giving, giving, all the time. Ask yourself, where you are getting filled up?
You can't drive on E."

Spiritual pep talks are fine by me. But it's running on fumes:
could we also get the physical tools we need to do our jobs?

We still don't have the industrial garbage can on wheels that I'd requested, for instance, to replace one of the store's four cans which had broken down under the burden of cleaning up the wet filth in the alley. (People on the street use the alley as a garbage dump and occasional toilet.)

When I'd asked Big Boss for a new garbage can, he'd rolled his eyes at me and said, "The next one that gets donated, we keep."

I've never seen one donated. Rolling garbage cans cost $80 on Amazon.
So we're full up on E for Enlightenment (
spiritual ),
but we're running on three wheels.

Coworkers buy tools out of their own pocket. Ms Linens spent fifteen dollars on her own ticket-tagging gun. She takes it home with her. (They get wonky, or they get borrowed.)

That same day, a barber set up on the sidewalk outside the store a chair and a folding table of hair-cutting supplies, and he gave free haircuts and shaves to the people on the street.
To "give back to the community" he said. That's the spirit! and presumably he had the right clippers and scissors and all too.

Mr Furniture went and got himself a free shave.

KIRSTEN: I am eager to see Rita and Ava out in the October weather!

That's really kind of you to offer to chip in on the garbage can! Thank you!
It's sorted though:
I went over Big Boss's head to E.D. (the executive director), who gave us one from the warehouse. They tend to get/store the bigger industrial stuff there.

ask and ye shall receive! that is awesome that the E.D. saw the need. inevitably it will come in handy there at the store.

by the way, E.D. sent me a letter re my donation a while back which i certainly didn't expect to receive.

FRESCA here: Oh! Nice—I didn’t expect them to send a thank-you with. I think the uppity-ups operate differently than the managers on the ground
