Application

For the first time since I started looking a few weeks ago, I've found a job to apply for--editorial assistant at the history museum.

It's full time, and I'd prefer a part-time job so I could keep the BOOK's job, but what the heck? It won't hurt to apply, right?

I'm qualified, it would suit me,
and it pays $19/hour = almost double the thrift store's pay.
I wouldn't consider leaving the thrift store if they'd give me more hours or pay... But they say they "can't". (Stupid on their part.)

Among other things, I'd hate to give up the physical nature of my BOOK's job...
I've not lost an ounce, but I am stronger after a year lifting books. I'm often sore after work, but one-day on/one-day off seems to give me enough time to recover and even build up strength.
Going back to desk work could be a problem.

(In theory, I could volunteer at the thrift store, but in reality, working full-time, I doubt I would.)

Well... I'll worry about all that it IF I get the job--they're sure to get lots of qualified applicants (esp. since it's an assistant position).

I got another animal T-shirt! A coworker had showed me this T-shirt, saying it says, "BAD CAT", but it says "DAB CAT".
I had to look it up. I'd thought it referred to a boxing punch, the dab, but no--it's a dance move.

I'm off to watch the Women's World Cup semifinal USA v. England game with bink & friends at a local second-run movie theater that shows the games for free.
Popcorn and lemonade for lunch!

  1. Fresca, if you want that job, I hope you get it.

I also hope that everyone recognizes that the design of the shirt owes something to the old Run-DMC logo.

  3. MICHAEL: Wow, thanks!!! No, I did not recognize that. Even better!

GZ: Thanks, I thought so too. No harm in trying, anyway.

  4. P.S. I went back to listen to DMC's "The Way It Is" to see if I remembered it rightly as a great song, and I did.

  5. The job sounds like a good one for you, too, and if that is what happens, yay; if not, also yay, because my guess is your help at SVDP is great. I get it -- in my case, still at a minimum wage job that is technically temporary; I just come when they call (and lately that's been very regular). I did tell them I would like to be considered permanent, and that seems to help in the scheme of things. I do consider applying elsewhere. I really love my work, though! Books are often, if not always, calming, healing things you can hold in your hand. :o)

  6. DEANNA: Fellow Sister in the Field!!! I wish I could visit and see your book place and catch up on all your doings (esp, I admit, book work doings)!
