Fourth of July Rat-Mischief Parade

Penny Cooper read up on rats and declared them nicer than mice: "Let's make this a rat mischief parade."
A group of rats is called a Mischief. We only have one, but it's the better name.

Let us consider The Rat.
Rats are smart, they can count to ten; empathetic--they share treats; clean--they can run a Hoover (not really); and they laugh when they're tickled.
So yes. We are here to Celebrate the Rat.

bink picked up me and the girlettes & friends at 8 a.m. today, and we went to the Japanese Garden near my house. (It's part of the same garden complex as the Turtle Fountain (its official name is the Peace Garden).

It looks like I saturated the color on the top photo, but it's from the morning sun.

Close ups:

It was helpful to have a second pair of hands--those parade balloons take some handling! bink'd helped with costumes too.
It went exceptionally well--everyone was focused. And soon after we finished, rain came bucketing down.

I'm not very familiar with this garden. It has lots of these big rocks and great paths---great for toys. I'm coming here again.

Okay then. Happy Celebration of Rats Day.
Make some mischief!

  1. oh my! what a parade with lots of girlettes and bears and rats. kudos on the costuming as well as managing to keep them all in line.

the green reminds me of a years ago visit to the buchart gardens in canada. had a horrible time getting prints of the slides as the green was so intense.

    happy 4th of july!

  2. My daughter Lily and her kids have pet rats. They love them.
I have a rat hand puppet that is beloved here. His name is "Ratty." Ratty has been a big part of all of the grandkids' lives.
But we've never had a parade involving Ratty. He would probably enjoy it.

  3. so much detail, so much utter joyful heart tingling in this parade , EVERYTHING!!! Glad you got the help needed from incredible assistant and creative spirit friend. A most grand and successful parade- just in time too! Raining on one's parade has never been popular.

  4. KIRSTEN: yes the green casts a shade alright! Glad you enjoyed the costumes and all… it all came together unusually easily!

MS MOON: in truth, the rat element is incidental 😆

Linda Sue: Thank you! ❤️ It was a joyful outing, everyone in high spirits (yet cooperative!)—you and I would have fun —I could be your assistant 🌈
