I’d posted last week about the girlettes planning to recreate that painting, but without a photo of it, the reference was easy to overlook.
Marz pointed out that the white clover was a good swap for white lilies (people here overwhelmingly prefer orange tiger lilies, which aren’t in bloom now anyway)—- the clover being the appropriate size fir the dolls.
So GOOD- Even little white gowns and glow. Lovely and so charming, clever you. Beautiful light- looks like a summer evening perfection. I LOVE this - I want to be a girlette!! Finding a field of white clover - genius! Perfect sized lanterns. You are a most patient photographer.
Is this a deliberate reference to "Carnation, Lily, Lily, Rose" by John Singer Sargent? Looks like it!
ReplyDeleteI thought that too. Pretty!
ReplyDeleteSteve & Sarah: Yes, indeed—good call!

ReplyDeleteThis is a lovely little vignette, so well proportioned. And costumed.
ReplyDeleteThis is so lovely, the white dresses, the mini lanterns, the sunset, perfection.
ReplyDeletePerhaps the balance is a few photos only (especially re-creating paintings with the Girlettes) on a post with written posts in between........
ReplyDeleteThe lovely aspect of these photos is that they aren't a photo of a place or thing but rather a re-creation at a different level.
Too intellectual..........
