The Self-Organized Mindfulness Buddy Forum Drop-Out

Students in the Mindfulness Fundamentals class I just started online do not have to participate in the "Self-Organized Mindfulness Buddy Forum",
but this morning I realized everyone must post in the Community Forum before watching the first mindfulness video.

I dropped out.

(
The course gives CEU credits (for teachers), so it electronically monitors your progress. Each required step must be checked off, or you can't proceed. )

I just started watching the TV show Community, about a study group of mismatched, misfit community college students.
Several people recommended it to me as good pandemic diversion, and I'm liking it a lot.
But I am old:

I already have a check mark next to "Bond with a group of adorable misfits".

Here's a funny crossover: I first noticed Donald Glover (Troy Barnes in Community) in the movie version (2015) of The Martian, the only book I've read in its entirety during the first six weeks of Stay-at-Home.

Glover plays mathematician Rich Purnell––a small but memorable role. This beautiful image of him in his Jet Propulsion Lab office stuck in my head.

Clip on youtube of him being a cool math genius nerd, demonstrating the rescue mission with a stapler.

And this is 20 seconds of Troy rapping nonsense with classmate Abed (Danny Pudi), using the few words they know from their Intro to Spanish class (the closing credits of the 2nd episode).
It's what made me decide to keep watching Community:

  1. Just in case (can’t tell if it’s obvious) — Donald Glover is also Childish Gambino. Look for “This Is America” on YouTube.

  2. We watched some of "Community," though I can't remember how far we got. (It was a while ago.) We liked it, but we sort of inadvertently let it fall by the wayside!

  3. MICHAEL: I am such a non-starter with music! I had seen that Glover is Childish Gambino but I didn't go and listen to a single song.
    And now I have---and what a song!
Soooo much like what I see at work (often via my black guy coworkers).

STEVE: "Community" fits me right now.
