It's my birthday––I'm fifty-eight. Almost sixty... Wild.
It's only 3º outside, but it's a gorgeous day: the sunshine is bouncing off the snow so brightly you need sunglasses, and it's definitely coming in on a springtime angle.
I'm happy––I've had a fantastic year, the best in quit a while.
I've not slowed down the way I've wanted to, however, and so I feel a bit noisy in myself.
It's Mardi Gras too––the day before Lent, and this morning it came to me that it would be wonderful to celebrate the season by writing more by hand and typing less:
I'm going to step away from writing my blog and instead write letters to others and notes (or whatever--maybe some collage?) to myself.
I'm not going to be a hard-liner about this--I'll check in on other's blogs, and if I miss blogging too much, I can come back.
But I'm going to try a fast from social media, staying off Facebook entirely until Easter (April 21). That will be nice--I don't get much from FB but froth.
If you want to write me a letter, please do!
(I'm not giving up email. I email with my 93-year-old auntie every day. It seems almost as old fashioned as letters.)
Blessings!

Happy Birthday, dear friend!
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday! Love cold days but with lots of sun especially off of the snow.
ReplyDeleteI, too, have gone back to writing letters. It's really more fun than dashing off an email.
Kirsten
The Saints Through Their Handwriting—-that sounds like a crazy, fascinating book! Do you actually have in your possession?
ReplyDeleteThanks for the good wishes, Crow & Kirsten--I'm about to head out to lunch at a favorite Turkish restaurant--a great little hole in the wall place!
ReplyDeleteBINK: I wish! No I just found the photo of that book online...
Happy birthday, Fresca!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your break and happy (belated) birthday! I'll miss your blog in the meantime, but I understand the desire to back away from it -- I've done that a few times myself.
ReplyDeleteGlad to see you still here!
