The Bee Burial turned out to be a Burial at Sea, or, as close to the sea as you can get in the middle of a continent: We went to Minnehaha Falls, and Penny Cooper consigned
the bee's body to the rushing waters.
With Marz's leadership, we all chanted the Heart Sutra (in Sanskrit?):

"Gaté, gaté (Gone, gone), Paragaté (Gone beyond),
Parasamgate! (Fully beyond)
Bodhi! Svaha! (Awake! YAY!)"
What a wonderful place for a Bee Burial. Sometimes when I see the photographs of the Orphan Reds, I forget that they are who they are.
ReplyDeleteWhat a nice sendoff for the Bee.

KIRSTEN: Thanks! Say, did you still want Mishka the Olympic Bear?
ReplyDeleteI saved him for you. No worries if you don't: he's happily hanging out by my desk at work.
I agree with Kirsten about forgetting who the Reds are. They create in me that feeling of willing suspension of disbelief. Must be a doll thing?
ReplyDeleteI could not wish for any better a send-off than Bee was given. Marz added a special, exotic touch to the ceremony.
I do that too---they seem to have an existence and personalities quite their own!
ReplyDeleteI like to think of Bee making its way to the sea--eventually--in very little parts, anyway...
