On Thursdays, I often shop at the Farmers Market on Nicollet Mall, downtown. This is today's haul. The luminous basil is soon to be pesto.
Pesto Recipe
1 bunch basil
1/3 cup olive oil
1/3 cup pine nuts or walnuts
1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
2-4 cloves garlic (to your taste)
Grind to a fine paste in food processor or blender... or even by knife.
I'd posted this on Phillips Whittier 365 photo blog, and a painter named Maureen Carrigan asked if she could paint it. I was thrilled with her result:
