Blue Wash

Spent the day helping bink wash blue paint over the label side of 800 DVDs--half her haul--to transform them (artistically and spiritually, ya know) ... and so the fingers wouldn't look so much like Vienna sausages.

You can get some sense of the space a business owner gave her to work in--a big, bright, empty storefront in the Uptown (a few blocks from the Apple store).

Oy Veh is mir! I hadn't seen the labels on the DVDs! Can you believe that a homophobic DVD sent out with the blessings of the archbishop has design work that looks like sausages in a tin...and Viennese, too... That's mega-fodder for a stand up routine. Anyone for some Gulden's, sauerkraut and a slice of pickle on the side!?!

LOVE THE COLOR!

LILL: Thanks!

STEF: I KNOW! It's a riot!

M'ret: I wore it on purpose, for those who have eyes to see...

SPARKER: Your mind is right.

Transformation is the key concept here, to my mind anyway. Subverting the exclusion-ism of homophobia with the inclusiveness of art. Here's to bink, and to you, and to anyone who has helped with the project - including the 1600 who gave you CDs.

Me, I woulda childishly used them as ninja stars and flipped them at the priest. Which is why I rarely go to church.
