It's a chilly August morning (58ยบ!), which means... it's almost State Fair Time.
Same as last year, the girlettes are asking for rides at home. (Last year there was a cupcake-go-round and a spinna-hamster wheel.)
BELOW: 9-second video, in my kitchen Marz & Kia Sorrento (in pink dress) test a gadget I brought home from work for a Tilt-a-Girl ride.
Yep, works good. The girlettes say Marz spins them the best:
she is left handed and spins them in the opposite direction than I (being right handed) would.
I must find more spinning objects for a full Midway experience.
The gadget is an Androck food (egg, mayonnaise) beater, which, surprisingly, Housewares did NOT put in metal recycling. I got it for 99 cents.
These beaters were made from 1939–1943, according to the Smithsonian's National Museum of American History, and originally came with a glass bowl (right). I should be able to find something suitable at work.

GZ: Originally I was going to return it after the state fair, but I think you're right--it'll be a great improvement on my hand whisk. I'm keeping it.
ReplyDeletePerhaps a salad spinner could be used as one of those rotor rides, where the floor drops away when the ride reaches maximum centrifugal force leaving the riders plastered against the wall. (That just triggered memories of riding one at Ponchartrain Park sixty years ago!)

The fair doesn't start till the 25th, I think. I may take the girlettes this year and see if I can do some photographing in the Midway...
