Mix and Match

Here I am the other day, just arrived at work on my bike, by the donations drop-off bay.

We three coworkers are looking the same direction, but I'd warrant we're each seeing something different.

My Best Work Yet

Work has been going really well (some glitches aside). Well for me, anyway.

One of my favorite things is assembling toy grab-bags. The former Toy Lady put toys together by theme--a bag of horse toys, a bag of Marvel heroes, etc.

I don't have time for that, but I prefer to mix and match anyway. It's more fun, I think, and also, lots of customer parents come in with several kids. For a couple bucks, they can buy one bag of mixed toys that'll likely have something for everyone.

But sometimes I do assemble toy bags by theme. The other day, I put together my favorites yet:
three bags of Army Guys & Tanks--with Dinos!

I thought this was genius, and one of my coworkers––a guy with a lot of boy in him––confirmed it when I showed him the bags and he said, "That's all I'd need, right there."

I said, "When you were a kid?"

"No," he said, "right now!"

Those DO NOT OPEN tags are fairly useless--often I find the bags torn open and one particular toy missing. Or the contents spread all over.
This used to upset me, until one day I saw some little kids happily playing on the floor and I thought,
I'll just remember this.

It still bugs me when it's clearly shoplifters I have to clean up after (if you're going to steal stuff, take the packaging!), but generally it's kids having fun.
That's a good thing.
