Old Milwaukee

Brunch, Wisconsin style

Auntie's backyard, after a night of rain (which we haven't seen in Minneapolis all summer):

Auntie is one tough biscotti. She came home on her 96th birthday and celebrated with her neighbors Lance and Cindy, bink, and me:

We hadn't planned on going down for her birthday, but it was touch and go for a minute, so we did.

On the road.

  3. such a grand celebration and exciting car ride for bear and Girlette. Champaign and cake- YUM! The bloody Mary looks like a complete meal, no need for fork.
Glad you made it to the birthday party!

  6. KIRSTEN: you know, right? in Wisconsin "frozen custard" is eggy ice-cream.
    I didn't konw its origins:
"The invention of frozen custard can be traced back to 1919 in Coney Island, New York. Ice cream vendors Archie and Elton Kohr realized that when they added egg yolks to ice cream, it had a smoother texture and helped the ice cream stay cold longer"

(I didn't actually have any or eat the sausage either---Wisconsin food is HIGH cholesterol. :)

LINDA SUE: The birthday cake was actually a floral arrangement! With candles in it, on a cake stand. Auntie doesn't like sweets, so we had popcorn with our fizzy.
    It was good.

JOANNE: I think my auntie is heading for a hundred!

RIVER: Thanks, and yes, Bed Bear and Penny Cooper LOVE to go on trips too.
