When Na-na from Korea posted this on IG, I asked her how she got a Madeline with articulated joints.
She wrote back: "It's 20cm 'monst joint doll' body made in China."
Of course!
She'd changed the heads.
I looked up how to swap a doll head.
Easy, supposedly: to make the plastic head flexible, heat it with a blow dryer. Then you can squeeze the head off and push it onto another neck.
Anyone tried this?
We do get BJDs (ball-jointed dolls) at the store, but they're always fighting men or monster figures.
The girlettes vote no: "We are not beefsters."
Orders from China have taken a long time to reach me, so I didn't want to go that way. But it's not that easy to find a ball-jointed 8" girl doll (and not a full-breasted sexbot).
To start with, I settled for this less-articulated one--a 1995 "gymnast" friend of Barbie ($12 from eBay, with tax and shipping).
I think the girlettes will like the costumes too, with a little adaptation.
But even though this doll's a gymnast, her wrists still don't flex...
I like the gymnast suits, they'd be great as long underwear in your winters for the Girlettes.
