Skating

This is the rink at the park by the lake, four blocks from my house. (All the different poses 😊.)
That's an ice-fishing house behind the tree, out on the lake, for those who don't know.

It's been foggy--warm & humid for January, but cold enough for smooth skating ice.

Life is fine, but a bit topsy-turvy just lately.
We had a coup!
Did I mention?
Ha-ha, of course everyone knows.
How 'bout that?
Couldn't have seen that coming, right?
Just like no one could have seen a new virus coming?
Except anyone who was paying attention.

Anyway-- personally a bit jumbled, too:
In a week––next Sunday––HM, Marz, & I have to pack up and move to an Airbnb for one week because the City is replacing the flaky windows in HM's old house. It's their lead-abatement program.
It's free, and the City even pays for the Airbnb.

I'm trying to think of it as a vacation of sorts. . .
in the middle of January, during a pandemic.
And--geez--
the bnb is on the same block as my old landlords, who I wanted never to see again, so actually I'm a bit nervous.
(The City requires you stay in a lead-free place, and that's the only one open that week...)

Penny Cooper says,

"If you're anxious, see clear pink light, 6 to 10 inches all around your body".
She read that on one of the pieces of ephemera found in a book (posted yesterday).

AND, being Penny, she added a tip:
"Get a ruler to measure how far 6 to 10 inches is."
Meanwhile, we have to pack up the house and move everything away from the windows--the window installers will shrink wrap everything to protect it from lead dust.

The three main dolls are coming with me--Penny Cooper, Low, and SweePo. Maybe some others will want to come too, I don't know.

Right now Pearl Duquette, Shark Attack Survivor, has flown across the country to Art Sparker Susan, who is fitting her arm with a prosthetic!
Here's a first glimpse:

The fun side of moving stuff for the window installagion, an otherwise bothersome chore, is that it's a chance to clear the clutter I've accumulated in the year and a half I've lived here.
I always enjoy that.
I've already straightened up my books and took a bag of them to the Little Free Library near the skating rink.

In the past, I'd have taken books to the store, but I find I don't care  anymore.
This is a great example of the role of emotions and personality in business success or failure--and why good leadership involves smart people skills and fair practices.

When I loved my job, I threw myself into it fully--worked extra, for no pay. Put us up for Best Thrift Store because I believed we were.

Now I feel full-on resentment about how management screws us workers--and doesn't care––I put the minimum effort in.

I'm cleaning up my space at work too, even if I end up staying at the job for quite a while longer. It's partly clearing emotional clutter.

Feels great.

I'm a terrible job hunter: I've only applied for one job so far. (No response.)
But I will apply for more. Yes, I will.

  1. Surprising how often clearing clutter helps with emotional clutter clearing too.
Nice to see Pearl Duquette getting a "helping" hand.
