Shiny Morning; Dark, Dark Night

The ground outside is sparkling with frost this morning.
(Well... now the sun is melting it...)

As I write this, it's nineteen hours till Winter Solstice (at 4 a.m. here). Some 12-hours later, we should be able to see Saturn & Jupiter line up and shine like a star.

I continue in a good mood, despite worry about my workplace and the world.
I'm generally pretty good natured (not to say not crabby & judgmental!)... but lately I'm feeling like when I inflate a slightly flat tire on my bike---all of a sudden, pedaling is less work.
That's cheering.

I do wonder what affect the low-grade infected tooth had on me over the past decade. I looked it up, and dentists say, yes, (of course) fighting off an infection tires the body.
Battling bacteria: it's work!

I'm in a good mood even though every day Covid comes closer--now this friend of a friend has it; now that one.

I'm sorta accepting that it's likely I'll get the virus at some point, living as I do with two other people––even though we all take (reasonable) care, none of us is isolated;
and working around people, even cut back to 10 hours/week.

Instead of living in fear of getting sick, I'm thinking in terms of management--better self care--to mitigate it, if I do get sick...
All stuff that's always good to do anyway.

Let's see.
I do okay with sleep and getting outside for walks and bikes...
I take my tinctures every morning, which give me a boost because I love squeezing drops of Strengthening Medicine into my glass.
I'm sure if nothing else, that tells my immune system:
Be on alert!
"Wachet Auf!"

[Hm... does new Blogger not embed youTube videos?]

Annoyances aside, I have meaningful work and social contacts.

I count social annoyances (like, at work, or occasional friction (slight) with roommates) as a Good.
Better for me than isolation.

I always say, isolation looks tempting (to me, anyway), but it can be a one-way trap--like wicker fishing traps. . .  >
easy to slip into,
very hard to back out of.

Better to carry on, fuming at idiocy as I go, than to slip into that.

As always, food is the main place I see where I Could Do Better.
Being overweight is a check against you with Covid (and other things).
Even knowing that full well, I have a hell of a time moderating what I eat.

But, try, try again....
Doing any little thing is better than doing nothing at all.

So, I'll do that.
Some little thing.
Add greens to the lasagna!

Maybe most of all, keep perspective. Avoid the distorting hype of fear, and face what is.

Penny Cooper says:

You are going to die sometime anyway.
You could practice now.
Okay, then, Penny! Thanks for that. (No, really.)

Meanwhile, keep on going.
Yellowstone and Saana are excited to be heading off this morning:
"We're going to see the darkest night!"

(Marz helped them get on the road.) They're going to walk till 4 a.m. till they get there.

Saana works for NASA so she knows where,
and so does Yellowstone, cause he's a bear.

So, friends, my best wishes to you at this hinge-time.
Eat your greens! Eat your ice cream!

On we go.... Awake!

  2. For us downunder it is the shortest night I think as we head into summer. I like Saana and Yellowstone walking into the night.
