"My Neighborhood Looks Like..."
It was fun to walk a few blocks through yesterday's big snow storm.
Cakes, above: The local panaderia is preparing for Valentine's Day.
At my destination, I drank cheap Chardonnay and read Visit Sunny Chernobyl, a travel book about worldwide human-made disaster sites, before Julia joined me for vegan banana bread.
I don't know what your experience is, but I find with age I enjoy looking at dramatic confections more than wishing to ingest them. This window in particular is like a flock of pink angels:
Walking through snow storms is so much fun. We had one a few weeks ago that was so fun to walk in especially along the Potomac River. Someone had built a snowman looking out to the water as if waiting for a boat to return.
"Visit Sunny Chernobyl" looks interesting. I had just read an article this week about the tours to Chernobyl that are occurring. No eating or drinking during the time in zone and no touching of anything.
I agree with ArtSparker: as I get older some pastries tend to look better than they taste.
KIRSTEN: Snow along the Potomac! That sounds like a book title. The book is interesting, and glum, of course--if you like, I'll send it as a gift along with the 2 you bought.
STEVE: Right! I was biking with bink around Ireland when Chernobyl melted down--mostly we thought about how we could get FARTHER AWAY!

ReplyDeleteYes, that's true for many things at midlife--I enjoy them but don't necessarily want to HAVE them. It's a nice stage!

Visiting Chernobyl is quite a thing these days, apparently. Who could have imagined THAT in the 1980s?!
