Winter Soldier 2: "5YTM"

Here's a "bread and roses" kind of plan:
Go to the first days of these antiwar hearings [info below] in Wash D.C.; then pop up to NYC and celebrate Women's History Month with Lisa's Lace Workshop [flier below], on Saturday, March 15.

That's the 5th anniversary of the U.S. invasion of Iraq. There's surely a "Five Years Too Many" antiwar march that Saturday in NYC too. These "5YTM" events are planned throughout the week. Look for yours locally.

Iraqi Veterans Against the War are holding Winter Soldier Public Hearings from March 13-16, 2008, in Washington D.C.
Veterans and civilian survivors of the U.S.-led wars in Iraq and Afghanistan will testify about their experiences. Such eyewitness stories about the true cost of these wars have often been censored from the American public.

This is the second such U.S. hearing. The first Winter Soldier event was in Detroit in 1971, where Vietnam veterans publicly recounted their experiences. Many Vietnam and WW2 vets involved in the Veterans for Peace Campaign support Winter Soldier 2.

See "Winter Soldier" for my review of the 1971 documentary film.
