I
just wrote a loong post looking at Google (who owns our Blogger),
comparing how evil they are with Meta (owner of FB & IG), and
concluding they aren't much better... I had lots of examples, with
in-text hyperlink citations. (Love them!)
I concluded that sharing stories (art, music, etc.) is a Good––not unalloyed, but nothing is––and this is where we do it. So I'm in.
And then I concluded that my post was too preachy and pedantic and I cut it. (Wait, wait--just the one. Lawsuit claims Google in Bed with Facebook, from The Guardian.)
Instead, here's a parrot.
You're welcome.
-----------
A parrot stuffy came into the store yesterday (a parrot walks into a bar...)--too dingy to sell.
Perfect for one of Frida Kahlo's parrots.
I de-stuffed Parrot right on the spot and put it in my bag.
Ta-da! Work in progress...
I am curious to see who posts on #ToysRecreatePaintings. Nine of us made Girls with Pearl Earrings last week. This Sunday, 11/13, is the day for the Frida re-creations. On Instagram, or wherever & whenever anyone wants:
NO RULES.
Well, your longer post did come through in my feed and I read it and I agree with you. I do very much believe that the act of creation is holy. The first words from the Bible are, "In the beginning, God created the heaven and the earth."
ReplyDeleteCreation.
Now- believe me, I am not religious, furthest thing from, but that is a beautiful line and I am of the opinion that when we create, we are doing that which is god-like, whether we are creating art, a garden, a meal, a dance, a child, a poem, a crocheted potholder.
And Blogger does indeed allow us to create which I appreciate.
Orphans Red never cease to impress me. Who else would so boldly volunteer for impersonating a parrot? Go, Girlette, go!
ReplyDeleteThat's an awfully cute parrot-girlie!
ReplyDeleteBrilliant new life for stuffed -no -longer- stuffed parrot. Adventures to ensue. Art to be made. I am a bit FOMO regarding the Zuck monopoly/manipulation of lives but, choices...we make 'em. I will just have to check with you- and try to sneak a peek on Dennis's Zuckiness.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE your ideas! So much fun! License to play- tag , you're it!
Today the orphans are having a celebration invented by Maple. They have included the Girlettes though in spirit.
Ms Moon: Thank you--that's exactly it--if we are, according to the story, "created in the image of God," and the first thing God does it TO CREATE, well then, as you say--when we create, we are divine.
ReplyDeleteTORORO: THe girlettes love when you comment:
"Tororo is a toy too," they say. (?)
JENNIFER: High praise, coming from a parrot person!
LINDA: I admire your choice--it made me rethink mine, which it cool. (I decided I'm okay with it, still.)
I love your ideas too--I feel like we're playing Orphan Ping-Pong!
(oooh, ping pong--wouldn't they love that?)
