Domestic comedy

"What's David Foster Wallace doing on the back porch?"

––Marz, letting herself into my apartment with her guest key

"Domestic comedy" is an occasional feature of Orange Crate Art (OCA).
Living alone, I've not had much occasion to post any such comedy of my own, until last night.
I'd left the thrift-store copy of Infinite Jest on my back porch, hoping the below-freezing overnight temps would dissipate its musty odor.
I brought it in just now, and it does smell fresh.

I brought home Post-it notes on OCA's rec, as an aid to navigating the footnotes.
I'll give this heavy book a couple-hundred page try, and if I don't like it, I'll donate it back to the store. *
If I do like it, I'm taking the advice of commenter Johannes (thanks!) and ripping it in half.

When I was ten, my mother took a Shakespeare class at the university. The required text was a massive hardcover book of all Shakespeare's plays. It changed my life to see her cut it in half, and bind each half in packing tape.
"Can you DO that?" I wondered.
Obviously, you can.

*Update: I donated it back to the store.
