The Bee-Man of Orn (1887), by Frank R. Stockton was a favorite story of mine when I was a kid. We had the version illustrated by Maurice Sendak.

The gist of the story is, a young sorcerer determines that if a slovenly bee-keeper he happens to meet were given a chance to live his life again, the man would grow up into something else (better).
So the sorcerer turns the Bee-man back into a baby.

But when the sorcerer returns years later...
 "Upon my word!" exclaimed the Sorcerer, "He has grown into the same thing again!"

  1. Good, means you've been living an authentic life all along.

  2. That's a nice thought... It feels true, too---I feel that I have always been me.

  3. You (in the pictures and in general) make me think of the word "ebullient", which I read and hear at church a lot (14th century chants and so on). I just looked it up, and, although I didn't have the definition exactly right, I still think it fits you in your full, creative spaces.

    Ebullient: 1) cheerful and full of energy. "she sounded ebullient and happy" - synonyms: exuberant buoyant, cheerful, joyful, lighthearted, elated;
    2) archaic literary - (of liquid or matter) boiling or agitated as if boiling. "misted and ebullient seas"

  4. Oh, I like that word you chose for me, Deanna!
    It especially matches the childhood me, but I think I still have that bubbly cheerfulness at hand.
