It Gets Better, Lone Star Style

I'm a sucker for those moments in Westerns when some big ol' cowboy tenderly helps a little calf on its way.

Here's one of them, real life.
Joel Burns is a member of the Fort Worth city council. He addresses the council with his personal story, on behalf of teens bullied for being LGBT, or, as he says, just for being different.
Part of the It Gets Better Project.

There's something about bravery in a Texan accent, I tell ya... Achy-breaky.

How unpolitical.

I like so much that he gave his telephone number.

SPARKY: Me too.

MRET: My heart flipped when he gave his phone number! Talk about frikkin brave.
I'm pretty sure C-KAPE is considering him for a special award.

It's truly worthwhile listening to these contributions to the It Gets Better project, because each time someone publicly shares their story, they break down a barrier for someone else. Maybe some will see this video, others will see the ones by their favorite celebrity, or others will look at the more anonymous "just like me" videos. I have found the experience of viewing them to be affirmative and encouraging.
