Quiet Night and Quiet Stars

I stepped outside into the dark cold last night and pointed the camera up. I had no idea the flash would turn the falling snowflakes into stars.

This photo makes me say, "I love winter!"

I do usually love winter too, but I must say, 17 below zero this morning puts a bit of a dent in our love affair!

Now I will be humming "Corcovado" all day! Beautiful image! The moon has been splendid these last few days as well.

That's the song! Not very Minnesotan, eh?
In fact, I stepped outside last night wondering if I could see the moon, not really thinking that since it was snowing, of course it was covered in clouds.

What a disorienting photo... like the "there is no 'up' in space" post from last week...

OMG, Grrll!!

You magicked the universe once again with your artistic eye and camera "oscura digitala"--(what's that?! i don't know: some fakey Latin term I made up!)

When I saw this pic, I thought you'd made a little shoebox Spaceship Fresca and held it up against the night sky or the inside of an old oven--(black enamel speckled with white paint flecks--does that give you any other ideas!?)--before blowing it up with baking soda and vinegar or somesuch. Then, i kept staring at your photo s'more and finally it dawned on me that the seagreen and silver grey and white moondust projectile object on the left is some eave of your earthbound domicile and not a spacecraft fin or wing.
Once again so glad to wake up with a beating heart, a worthwhile job to go to in the a. m.s, and hands and eyes to seek out new worlds via Astronave nee Gugeo in the p. m.s !! Mille Grazie, Bella! (Is that Italian or something else I pretended!)

Ciao!

It is disorienting, isn't it?
I'd thought about cropping it, but I thought part of the fun was figuring out that the glowy projection, as Stef says, is not a spacecraft wing, (alas), it's an eave.
