Liszt + Bieber

Beiber Fever had nothing on Lisztomania.
Cmuse article: "Lisztomania: How Franz Listz became music's first panty-dropper" (bad title, good article)]

Well, except e-technology.
I e-mailed to my 90-year-old auntie this 1842 illustration, (below) of adoring fans of Franz Liszt in concert.
My aunt, who e-mails me every morning from her iPhone, responded,
"Just replace the opera glasses with smartphones."

Nothing new about pretty-boy hearthrobs. Their appeal is lost on me, but the phenomenon is well recorded. No doubt of some sort of evolutionary advantage.

Yeah, I'd say the "pretty boy" is a variation on the "sensitive male"--definitely an evolutionarily advantageous kind of human!

Girlish boy for young girls to safely crush on, is what I was thinking.

Yes, but also, a counterbalance to the macho man.
