If something's worth doing, it's worth doing badly.

Magic.
Here I am again, housesitting the house with the Ink Spots CD--the house where I made my first Star Trek vids last summer and celebrated Obama's inauguration this past winter.

I know I could download the CD onto my laptop, but listening to it is part of the pleasure of being here.
I didn't expect anything this weekend more than that pleasure, a few G&Ts on the back deck, and the company of darling Natalie, the Staffordshire terrier (aka pit bull), but this afternoon I found out that I'm going to be given a computer that I can edit my film on!

You may remember that I bought a snazzy HD camcorder last summer and then discovered my old (2004) computer was too backward to handle the film. By the time I figured out how to get it to play jerkily at half speed (awful), I'd already shot a lot of footage of Orestes and the Fly, starring bink, left, as the Fly.
I couldn't afford the computer I needed, so I decided I'd edit it on bink's new computer, which was OK with her.
But, you know, that meant I had to get over there in the ice and cold this past winter, I had to edit when bink wasn't using her computer, and, ...well, in the end, I just didn't.
I got badly disheartened.
And so this spring it was bink who edited our first collaborative Fly on the Wall production, Peeps Blow Up, on her computer, and of course she did bang up job.

But now I will be able to edit on my own computer! I can stay up till 3 a.m. pulling my hair out! I can fret because the Fly footage is not very good, since I had no idea what I was doing. I have a lot left to shoot, too, but now I want to again. I don't care if it's a terrible little movie, it'll be MY terrible little movie!
Mine, mine, mine.
Other people make bad movies, and now I can too. If it's just altogether too dreadful, I still have high hopes that I might be able to squeeze an amusing "Making Of" feature out of it.

You are rather like Welles and Don Quixote...

If there is better music than that made by the Ink Spots, I've yet to fond it...

fond it? ....almost freudian...

Awesome!! I can't wait to see your Fly movie! (Exclamations are appropriate at times, yes?)

I will pause in the middle of making up dog stories in the living room to watch, as soon as your feature opens!

Thanks, all. I'm eager to get going, though I won't probably take possession of this machine for a little while yet. (Fingers crossed.) Exclamation points are called for!!!

Don Quioxote... Terry Gilliam got a good "Making Of" film out of his failed efforts to film that too!

What a beautiful tenor the lead for the Ink Spots had!

I love bink as the Fly. Can't wait for the vid.
