NPM 10: Nancy's Peeps Poetry

Nancy said she thinks hitting Peeps with a hammer is "just wrong," but she sent me this poem with the note:

"Something I wrote after reading your blog posts.
Not refined, just born."
.

April: national
poetry month

i want to write poetry again
thick and sweet
like Peeps
dirty and smoky
like Peeps blown up

i forgot the Easter baskets
my voice would not work for resurrection sunday

but the forsythia are blooming
from the bottom up

Me too. Thick and gooey and eerily light and somehow satisfying...kinda like peeeps. Except poetry is essential nourishment and peeeps...well..maybe i n some ways...

Nancy's an old friend and a good poet who hasn't written much in years so I was delighted the Peeps sparked such a sweet and smoky poem!

Thanks for the comments! And thanks, Fresca, for posting my spring blossom.
